our free step-by-step tutorial!
By using one Fantasy Forest Fabric Panel, you can sew a vibrant wall hanging or colorful art quilt in just one hour. To make the exact quilt featured in this tutorial (approximately 38″ x 58″), you will need:
1 yard of Fantasia Abstract Swirl Fabric
1 yard of Paradise Packed Swirls Fabric
2 yards of Moda Bella Black Fabric
Black batting
Cotton thread
Use your Moda Bella Black Fabric to create your quilt backing. Use homemade binding from the scraps or a premade pack of black binding.
Supplies/Cutting: In addition to your standard sewing supplies, you will need 1 Fantasy Forest Fabric Panel, 1 yard of Fantasia Abstract Swirl cut into 3 1/2” x WOF strips, 1 yard of Paradise Packed Swirls cut into 3 1/2” x WOF strips, and 2 yds of Moda Bella Solid Black Fabric cut into 4 strips measuring 2 1/2” x WOF. Use your remaining black fabric as your backing. You can make binding from the scraps or use a premade pack of black binding. You will also need black batting and cotton thread.
*All seams are sewn at 1/4”.
Step 1: Sew 2 1/2” black strips to all sides of your Fantasy Forest Fabric Panel.
Step 2: Sew 3 1/2” Fantasia Abstract Swirl strips to all sides.
Step 3: Sew 3 1/2” Paradise Packed Swirls border strips to all sides.
Step 4: Create your quilt sandwich by layering your panel top, batting, and backing. Quilt by hand or by machine.
Step 5: Trim any remaining excess fabric. Add binding (homemade or premade) along all of the raw edges using a 1/4” seam.

Hi sarah
In this quilt for wall hanging does measurment include 1/4 inch seam allowance?
Hi! Yes, it does.
Is this a wall hanging or blanket? I would love to make a quilt like this.
Hi! This size in this tutorial is fitting for a wall hanging or child’s quilt. You can add more strips or quilt blocks to make it as big as you’d like.
