Schmetz 130/705 H Wing Hemstitch Needles are also sometimes called a Wing Needle. The wing on each side of the needle creates decorative openwork on light or medium-weight woven fabrics. It can be used to create hemstitching and a variety of creative embroidery effects. This needle should be used with caution as it is especially sharp and is made to actually cut the fabric. Try using a stabilizer to experiment with decorative stitches when using this needle. Slowly turn the handwheel to move the needle through the stitching motions before actually trying it on the project to ensure that the throat plate opening will accommodate the design. A straight stitch plate will probably result in a broken needle. These needles can be used in household sewing machine brands where needles with a flat shank are required.
Most Schmetz Needles include two color-coded bands just below the shank. The top color indicates the type of needle, and the lower color indicates the size. The Schmetz Hemstitch Needles do not have a color code. Schmetz 130/705 H Wing Hemstitch Needles come as one needle per pack in a plastic case that slides shut for safe storage. The needle system, needle type, and needle size are printed on the front of the case.
