Using a Singer, Model 7258 for the first time, I want to hem a pair of Jean’s. Fabric is 98% cotton with a little stretch (2% elastane) to it. There will be three layers to sew through. What kind of needle should I use? Type of thread? Tension? Thank you

Hello Judy!

The compatible denim needles for your machine are:

A great thread option is:

As for tension, I checked your manual. I was unable to locate the exact information. I suggest sewing on a couple of scrap pieces, changing your tension slightly each time to see what gives you the best stitch.
Below is a great video on sewing denim: (00:14)

Thank you so much. I am a grand mother of 12 and enjoy sewing. I have 3 machines and wanted to give 2 of them to my grand daughters who showed an interest in sewing. I needed a foot control and cord for a White machine. Ordering it was easy and the pictures of the plug end was GREAT the foot control plugged in perfect. The price was right. My order arrived packaged nicely and it showed up a few days EARLY.
Thank you for the fast service.
