Sew a RealTree Lakeside Sunset Quilt with our free step-by-step tutorial!

With just one Realtree Lakeside Sunset Fabric Panel, you can sew a rustic wall hanging or warm thrown quilt. The quilt featured in this tutorial is approximately 60 1/2" x 71 1/2".

Supplies/Cutting: In addition to your standard sewing supplies, you need:

  • 1 Realtree Lakeside Sunset Fabric Panel

  • 1 yard of U Brown Moda Bella Solid Fabric

  • 1 yard of Dried Herb Moda Grunge Fabric

  • 2 yards of Navy Moda Grunge Fabric

  • 1 yard of Tan Branches 108” Quilt Backing.

  • You will also need batting and cotton thread.

  • Use the Tan Branches 108” Quilt Backing to make your binding.

*All seams are sewn at 1/4”.

Step 1: Cut out the panel, leaving a 1/4” black border on all sides. It should measure 42 1/2” x 34 1/2”. Sew 2 1/2” wide U Brown Moda strips to all sides of the panel.

Step 2: Sew 2 1/2” wide Dried Herb Grunge strips to all sides. Repeat using 2 1/2” wide Navy Grunge, and again using 2 1/2” wide Tan Branches fabric.

Step 3: Cut the following pieces to make the top and bottom blocks and piece together as shown in the graphic above.

Dried Herb Grunge, U Brown, Tan Branches: 4 - 2 1/2" x 13” of each. Navy Grunge: 2 - 42 1/2” x 13"

Step 4: Cut the following pieces to make the right and left side blocks and piece together as shown in the graphic above.

Dried Herb Grunge, U Brown, & Tan Branches: 4 - 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 of each. Navy Grunge 2 - 3 1/2” x 40“ 4 - 3 1/2” x 13

Step 5: Sew the top and bottom blocks to the panel block. Sew the right and left side blocks to the panel block.

Step 6: Trim any remaining excess fabric. Add the binding along all raw edges using a 1/4” seam.
