Talk about an easy way to spice up your lighting. Originally, this was specifically for Valentine's Day dinner, but once I saw the finished project, I was in love. I'm not taking this project down. Ever. I feel it's romantic and whimsical enough to keep up all year. Maybe it's just my inner romantic bohemian, but I just can't bare to take it down.
All you need is a straight stitch and a box of rose petals. I actually found this box in the wedding section of my local craft store. I'm not going to lie; I nearly fainted when I saw the price. $15 for a box! Thankfully, I had a 1/2 off coupon. The reason these boxes are perfect is because 1.) You don't have to cut a ton of oblong shapes and 2.) because the rose petals have ombre coloring similar to a real rose petal. They also come with sheer rose petals, which really amps up the texture and plays well with lighting.
Here is what you want to do:
Grab your box and dump all the rose petals out. You may have to press the really wrinkled petals, but there should only be a few of those.
Sew the petals down the middle, rotating solid with sheer. Leave a 1/2 inch thread gap between each petal. When you run out of sheer petals, start a new line of just the remaining solid petals.
You should end up with 2 very long strands of rose petals. One is solid/sheer mix and the other is just solid petals.
Now drape it on your chandelier. I hung my solid strand in the center and had it dangle down the furthest. You'll have to cut the stands into even sections as you go. Then, hang the sheer/solid strand around the outside (I draped around the actual lights). Whatever you have left can be used to wrap around the top of the chandelier.
And that's it! Super easy and romantic! Feel free to jazz it up with some feathers or dangling beads.
