It includes both 50-weight and 12-weight threads for experimenting with hand-quilting and traditional machine sewing. The 50-weight colors include 1148, 4093, 2515, 2530, and 2425 while the 12-weight features 4241, 5007, 2479, 2535, and 2155.

The Heirloom Kit includes five spools of 50-weight and five spools of 12-weight thread. Aurifil's Mako Cotton thread in 50wt is the most versatile and popular cotton thread, perfect for quilting, English paper piecing (EPP), machine embroidery, applique, and much more. The 12-weight is the densest thread Aurifil offers, making it great for hand applique, hand embroidery, hand quilting, and cross-stitching. Mako Cotton Thread is a 2-ply, long-staple Egyptian Cotton that has been mercerized to strengthen the thread and give it a lustrous sheen. The 50-weight spools hold 220 yards, while the 12-weight spools contain 54 yards.
