This Baby Lock is back on the job and hard at work!
I did a search for my Brother sewing machine model #XL-3100 for spool pin. This is the part that said it was compatible with my machine. Unfortunately, when I took the machine apart to replace it, I discovered that it is the wrong part!

Any instructions around so I can attempt to put it on...? Its 4 years old and has never been turned on. I bought it, then My son got very sick and I spent the last 4 years with him until he passed and not sewing. I NEED to sew now for distraction from my loss! The part is great, but my machine model could not be opened. I had to take the whole machine in. The repair had to be done by someone who could open the whole machine. There is no access to make this little, and probably more frequently than expected, repair without extensive work and special tools. Check to see if you have access before you attempt this yourself. It turned out to be a rather expensive adventure. I found someone who charged $100.00 less than the recommended shop. He did a great job, but I still think Brother should have made a better design on their machine.
