EXTRAORDINAIR® THREADING

ExtraordinAir instantly takes thread through all loopers with just a gust of air. Threading has never been this fast, easy or extraordinary! It is no longer necessary to select the threading position. All looper threads may be threaded simultaneously or individually with this excellent feature. You no longer will need tweezers on the thread guides; plus, if a looper thread breaks or runs out, just re-thread it. There is no need to follow a specific threading sequence.

8/7/6 THREAD STITCH CAPACITY

The Accolade gives you 87 stitch combinations with 8/7/6 thread serging options. Plus, you can combine overlocking and cover stitching in the same operation. The Accolade has overlock, rolled hem, flatlock, lettuce, blind hem, and so many more stitches to choose from.

FABRIC SUPPORT SYSTEM

The Fabric Support System keeps the Accolades stitches flat and balanced, regardless of what speed, fabric, or stitch you choose. So no matter if you are serging the finest silk chiffon or four layers of denim, your seams will stay consistent. The built-in stitch fingers actually move with the knife blade, adjusting the seam consecutively with the cutting width.

Snap-on Presser Feet

Don't worry about having to hunt down a screwdriver whenever you need to change presser feet! The Baby Lock Accolade comes equipped with a snap-on presser foot shank. Simply press the button on the back of the shank and your current foot detaches instantly. Your new presser foot easily snaps back onto the shank so you can keep serging!

Automatic Thread Delivery™ System

Set the Accolade to the type of stitch you want and get started! The Accolade delivers a balanced stitch on any fabric with any type of thread. Go from lightweight fabrics to heavyweight to lofty materials without having to make any adjustments.

Adjustable Presser Foot Height & Pressure

The BLS8 features a higher presser foot height to handle thicker and loftier fabric effortlessly. You can raise the presser foot up to 6mm (approx 1/4"). Also on the machine is adjustable presser foot pressure. The presser foot pressure has been preset at the factory and rarely needs adjustment. However, you may find it necessary to decrease the pressure for thick fabrics or increase pressure for thin materials to feed more smoothly under the foot.

ADVANCED KNIFE DRIVING AND ONE-WAY CLUTCH SYSTEM

With its extra-high presser foot and Advanced Knife Driving and One-Way Clutch System, your Accolade has a larger cutting bite that cuts thicker fabric with ease and increased visibility. Unlike regular sergers, the Accolade can easily cut through thick fleece, wool, and multiple layers of denim.

Built-in Thread Cutter

There is a thread cutter located on the left side of your Accolade. At the end of a seam, sew off the fabric edge and continue sewing to create a 5-6" (12.5-15cm) thread chain. Bring the thread chain up and from the back to front through the thread cutter.

Cover Stitch Chaining Off

Baby Lock has made cover stitching easy to start or stop by automatically chaining off the cover stitch. What’s more, the Accolade sews through heavier fabrics better than most cover stitch machines.

Looper Drive System

Exclusive to Baby Lock, the Looper Drive System prevents loopers from becoming misaligned or out of time, reducing the possibility of major looper damage. This protects your Accolade from needing repairs, allowing you to serge worry free!

Full Featured Single Unit Differential Feed

Babylock has taken the differential feed to new levels by adding a single unit feed dog mechanism. This ensures stronger feeding as well as consistent gathering on all fabrics. When the differential feed adjusting lever, located at the machine's right, front edge is set on "N" for regular feeding, the feed dogs move the same distance. This is the setting to use for most fabrics and applications. When the differential feed lever is set above "N," the front feed dog will feed more material than the back and the opposite when the lever is set below "N."

The Wave Stitch opens your world to more decorative stitches for more creativity. This stitch provides a decorative "wavy" edging on fabric. (not to be confused with the "lettuce edge") Try different thread colors and stitch widths to serge a one-of-a-kind creation easily. When combining decorative threads for the Wave stitch, please test on a sample of the fabric you will be sewing on before applying the Wave stitch.

TUBULAR LOOPERS

There’s no exposed thread, no thread guides and you can thread in any order! Tubular loopers eliminate threading mistakes and protect the thread for more serging freedom.

VERTICAL NEEDLE PENETRATION

While some machines use slanted needles that push and damage fabric, the Accolade's needles are set vertically and sew directly up and down, protecting your fabric and preventing needle deflection.

ADJUSTABLE STITCH LENGTH AND AUTOMATIC ROLLED HEM

Stitch length can be easily adjusted on a Baby Lock serger using one dial. This dial includes an Automatic Rolled Hem setting that will retract the built-in stitch width finger for a rolled hem finish.

CHAIN/COVER TENSION DISKS

Functions include chain, cover, and triple cover stitches. All three cover needles are controlled by one tension dial, so you can save time with one simple adjustment.
