Buyer beware. Purchased this to replace a motor on an old singer 239. Ordered on 7/16 and was delivered within the week. First week of use it worked fine (pedal was a little squeaky, but motor ran as expected). Gave them a 5star rating.
After a month of use the rpm’s began oscillating regardless the level of pressure applied to the pedal. I reached out to the distributor (this website) for advice of a fix or what their replacement policy was. They replied back saying, sorry, they can’t/won’t help, no refunds as stated on their website. Awesome.
If you’re looking for a cheap motor made by the People’s Republic of China that will last for 30-40 days, this is your best place to throw your money away. If you’re looking for a company that will stand behind what they sell, or at least help you when their product goes awry, I will definitely be looking elsewhere.
Beware. This does not fit a kenmore 158.542 directly. It works with it after severe modification. I’d also avoid buying anything from this website as on their main page it says 60 day return policy. That only applies to picture frames, and even then there’s unreal guidelines for a returnable frame. My experience with this website wasn’t good and wasn’t bad. I tried to get: not a refund but the same motor with a different bracket that works with my kenmore. I was told it’s “not refundable as it states in the website” was my response from the customer service.which they were right. It was there on the website but only if you were reading the specific item’s description. To modify the motor to work with my kenmore I had to take apart its housing and drill two holes on the bottom so it could work with my original bracket that came with the machine. Then I used duct tape around the motor like a strap to help the motor stay more stable on the bracket. So it wasn’t bad but not great and would I recommend this website for sewing stuff? No absolutely not.
I got my Singer sewing machine in 1967 so when the foot control went out I wasn't sure I could fix it but it was easy to fix the foot control and replace the light. Not bad for a woman in her 70's!!!
I can now sew with my gift vintage sewing machine. It was easy to install, all parts fit, easy to adjust. Highly recommend. Will buy all future parts from them.
The motor fit great and everything worked well. I ended up using a different foot control unit that worked better for me but my purchase was a good one!
I just used the motor to replace the old one on my singer 185. Very happy with that but the foot pedal I got is different than pictured and has absolutely no control to it. It goes from 0 to 60 right after a bunch of space that doesn’t move the motor at all. No instructions to adjust the pedal either.
I had always heard that the Alpha sew replacement motors were pretty decent, and I guess it is, but I was disappointed in the quality of the extra pieces wasn�t better. The cheap drive band didn�t even fit the Singer 66 that the motor was intended for. The foot pedal came apart when I dropped it, I put it back together. The plug feels pretty flimsy. I�ll try to stick with vintage parts in the future.
