Product Description
When used properly, this thread stand will become your favorite external thread stand. Use it for sewing or winding bobbins. Spools or cones of thread up to 76mm (3 inches) in diameter will fit on this thread stand. Now you can sew with all those threads that will not fit on your sewing machine's spool pin. Proper thread handling is very important to your sewing machine. Any obstruction to the thread flow from spool to needle can cause problems, such as broken needles or inconsistent stitches. These problems are inconvenient and can be reduced when using the Universal Thread Holder
There are 2 spool caps and 1 cone adapter included. These are used specifically for different types of spools. The idea is to keep the spool from turning while allowing the thread to spool off with no resistance. The small cap is intended for small-diameter spools. Note that the spool is the plastic core that the thread is wrapped on. The larger cap is for medium to large spools. The side placed against the spool should be larger than the spool itself. This way, the thread spools off on the edge of the cap, NOT on the edge of the spool. When pushed all the way down on the spool, they prevent it from turning as well.
The cone adapter is used for cone-type threads where the opening is about 25mm (1 inch). It is a snug fit on the steel pin so as not to slip off when removing the cone. For most cone-type threads, the adapter only needs to be installed flush with the end of the spool pin. Wiggling the adapter while installing or removing it makes the process easier. The cone can now be held in place, allowing the thread to spool off to the exit hole. The 2 spool caps can be mounted on the spool pin (at the bottom of the cone) for storage.
After securing the spool or cone, the thread must pass through the exit hole opposite the spool pin. At this point, the thread is free to go wherever you would like. The guidewire keeps the thread clear of a cluttered sewing table. When placed vertically with the guidewire extended up, it stands 15 inches tall, clearing most sewing machines' tops. As with any external thread holder, care should be taken to keep the thread clear from obstructions or moving parts.
This Thread Stand can be used both upright or lying down. On both sides, there are rubber grips that prevent the stand from moving around.

I have vintage sewing machines - and a lot of spiral-wound cones of thread. This gadget makes it possible to easily use these types of thread with machines that were designed for spools. It's easy to use and to adapt to the various heights of my machines and setups.

This is really good for my large spools of thread.
Sturdy but too small to comfortably fit Nylon bt-69 cones. It fits in there but just not neatly.
It works great for larger spools of thread that do not fit on the spool pin of my machine. The thread holder is sturdy and does not bend or slide.

This was easy to set up. I bought this to use with larger spools that I found out didn’t fit my machine. Well, I tried them with this device and it didn’t work very well. It is not the device but my sewing machine. I’m sure this will work with other sewing machines, just not with mine.

I mostly buy cones of serger thread, but my sewing machine doesn’t accommodate the large cones. This takes care of that. I like that the arm is adjustable so that I can line it up to the best position for my machine.

This helps feed thread from large spools. I love mine as I can place it were I need it.

I like this product, EXCEPT Fro the loop on the wire catches my thread! I think where the wires come together would work better at the top of the circle.

Cannot be used for stacked spools (like King Tut or Dual Duty) or for bobbins as post cannot be unscrewed and remounted in the vertical side of stand. Does not include short post for bobbins. It looks like the Superior Stand and the text in the description is copied word for word, but it only works for cross wound spools and cones. Disappointed and attempting to return.
