This is gorgeous! I am a newbie to quilting and this was probably not the best kit to start. That said, the instructions are clear and I think it will be lovely. One place I got confused was the cutting for fabric F. Is very unclear but fortunately there is enough fabric to complete even with my mistakes.
Hi -- I just finished the first full square-- and love the colors, materials & design. Am a second-year quilter, "confident beginner." I show that first square with the hope that the next three will benefit from this "practice" round. Your illustrations and instructions are great so far -- except I think there's one significant challenge: the Templates page. When I reproduced it, the 1" Printer test came out fine. BUT I could not get the assembly of the FGH square to come out large enough to result in the necessary rectangle (2.4 X 4.5"). (The HST and the Flying Geese worked out fine.) I'm not a veteran quilter, but I do know my 1/4" seaming! I had to set my printer at 110% to make the FGH squares work. I was able to assemble big enough rough squares to do the best job of trimming them. However, this trial/error ate up a lot of fabric (as I had cut all the pieces for the FGH and had to do it again for the 110% version). Suggestion: Can you have a look at the FGH assembly and see if others are having this problem? It could be the 110% magnification helps on this one section of the construction. Otherwise, this is a challenging project due to the many pieces involved in each of the 4 squares -- yet it's beautiful and I'm learning even more. I will be a better quilter at the end -- and likely want to do this one again. Have to say that the FGH rectangles are a bear and I'm repeatedly redoing them because I want this to be near perfect. Thanks for the project and the challenges. I'm making this for friends in Canada to thank them for their lovely hospitality a few weeks ago.
Nice colors for fall. Skill level I’d say is confident beginner . Beautiful finished runner.
