Aurifil's Mako Cotton Thread is made from long-staple, 100% Egyptian Cotton. This 2-ply thread is mercerized, making it strong and adding a lustrous sheen ideal for decorative stitching. Aurifil Mako Cotton Thread is available in a variety of colors, and each cherry wood spool contains 300 yards (280m).
This 80wt cotton thread is excellent for embroidery on decorative pillows, terry cloth towels, quilt blocks, potholders, and much more! Also, using a lightweight thread in your bobbin guarantees that the bobbin thread will never show up on the top of your embroidery design.
Aurifil's Mako Cotton Thread in 80wt is a slightly thinner thread, making it ideal for English Paper Piecing (EPP), applique, embroidery, and free-motion quilting. This fine thread helps create flat seams but is also strong enough not to be damaged when removing the foundation paper piecing. Aurifil 80wt thread is so light and smooth that the thread disappears into the seams and hides the stitches while still being strong enough to hold your pieces in place!

Wound bobbins with Aurifil 80wt Mako Cotton Thread. Stored thread in my new Bobbin Boats. Thread was used in making the baby bibs, using cotton fabric and Pellon Thermolam Plus Sew-In Heavyweight Fleece, 45in.
I love the Aurifil 80wt Mako Thread that I ordered. It makes my tiny stitches in my EPP projects virtually invisible while still holding strong. So happy with it!
It’s very hard to do find 80 wt. thread. I was happy to see it was an Aurifil product too! I use it for heirloom sewing when joining laces and attaching entredeux.
