I purchased this bobbin winder for my vintage Bernina 830 Record after having a bad experience with a Cutex aftermarket replacement (also #320.184.03).
The Cutex replacement had a mounting post that measured only about 8.5 mm, compared to approximately 9.1 mm on my original Bernina part. Because the mounting post was too short, the assembly couldn't be secured properly even with the mounting screw fully tightened. This allowed the entire bobbin winder to move during operation, sometimes causing the white plastic tab to slip out of the metal slot and delaying engagement. I even tried adding plastic washers, but that didn't solve the problem.
My sewing machine technician recommended Sewing Parts Online, and their customer service confirmed that their replacement comes from a different source than Cutex.
I'm happy to report that this replacement works much better! Although the fit is still not quite as snug as the original Bernina part, it stays securely in place during operation, and the plastic tab no longer slips out.
Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to other 830 Record owners.
The bobbin winder on my Bernina Record 830 was getting horribly noisy, this replacement part fixed it, and bonus, unlike the original part, the rubber wheel is now a replaceable O ring.
