Invisible zippers, also known as concealed zippers, are commonly used in the center back of dresses, as well as the side or back of pants, skirts, and various home décor projects. As the name suggests, the zipper is hidden within the seam, making it nearly invisible. While many assume this type of zipper application is challenging, it is actually one of the simplest to install.

How to Use:

1. Prepare the Zipper Opening Before sewing the garment seam, mark the length of the zipper opening on both the seam allowances and the zipper. Ensure any excess zipper length extends below the opening.
2. Attach the Clear Invisible Zipper Foot Snap on the Clear Invisible Zipper Foot. Select a center needle position straight stitch with a length of 2.5–3.0.
3. Position the Right Side of the Zipper Place the right side of the zipper on the right seam allowance, with right sides together. Align the zipper coil with the seam line, positioning it about 3/4” (2 cm) below the fabric’s cut edge.
4. Sew the First Side Gently press the zipper teeth slightly to the right and position the presser foot so that the coil sits in the right groove of the zipper foot. Start stitching from the top and sew down to the marked stopping point. Secure the stitch with a tie-off.
5. Position the Left Side of the Zipper Place the second zipper tape on the left seam allowance, ensuring both coils are aligned evenly. Pin the zipper in place and unzip it.
6. Sew the Second Side Lower the presser foot with the left groove guiding the zipper teeth. Sew in the same manner as the first side.
7. Close the Zipper and Prepare the Seam Zip up the zipper and bring the fabric pieces together with right sides facing. Pin the remaining fabric below the zipper.
8. Sew the Seam Below the Zipper Snap on the regular Zipper Foot (E) to the left of the needle. Adjust the needle position if necessary. Sew from the lower fabric edge up toward the zipper, slightly overlapping the backstitched seam.
9. Press the Seam Open Gently press the seam open for a clean finish.

Tip: Choose an invisible zipper that is at least 1 1/4” (3 cm) longer than the zipper opening for easier installation.
