This product was stated to be compatible with a Singer 401, but is not. The problem is that the 401 has 2 unique plugs: A) Two pin plug for the foot pedal B) A two pin plug for electricity. This plug does fit and even works for electricity, but not the foot pedal. The access to electricity is useless if there is no working pedal. This pedal is definitely NOT a fit for the Singer 401.

Replacement part works like it should ,now I can use my favorite machine that has been with me for 50+years. And I might add , the person I spoke to on the phone was most helpful in selecting the correct part for my model Singer.
