Choose from 116 built-in utility and decorative stitches. Juki's HZL-HT740 comes equipped with all the stitches you need for quilting, crafting, and garment making.
One-Step Buttonhole
The HT740 includes ten buttonhole styles. Create square, round-end, and keyhole buttonholes with the automatic buttonhole foot that is included with the machine. The maximum buttonhole length is 30mm (total diameter plus thickness of the button).
2 Fonts
The HZL-HT740 can sew both letters and patterns with its two alphabet fonts. Add text to any quilt block or tag using upper and lower case, accents, and punctuation.
15 Needle Positions
Place your needle at the precise starting point of your design when sewing decorative stitches, applique, or free-motion quilting with the 15 different needle positions. All these options allow for more detail in decorative stitches and incredible fine adjustments in all stitch creations. You can drop the needle in the perfect spot! And with the 7mm stitch width, this sort of bold detail can be easily appreciated.
Built-in Storage
Located inside the bed of the machine is a convenient storage compartment! You can keep presser feet, seam rippers, thread, and tools in this storage area. It makes it easier to carry your notions with you to classes and guild meetings with all the extra space!
Free Arm
The free arm is essential for hemming sleeves, pant legs, and other cylindrical items. Remove the auxiliary bed to access the free arm.
Adjustable Foot Pressure
This feature allows you to adjust your foot tension based on your fabric weight so you can get a comfortable feed. The presser foot pressure of the machine has been pre-set and requires no particular adjustment for general sewing ('2' is regular). For sewing with very thin fabric, reduce the pressure by turning the dial counter-clockwise. For heavy fabric, increase the pressure by turning it clockwise. Once the dial is turned all the way up or down, it's not recommended that you keep turning it.
Drop Feed
The HZL-HT740 has a built-in lever that, when pressed, automatically lowers the feed dogs so you can quickly switch to free-motion quilting.
Presser Foot Lift
Juki's HT740 features an extra-high presser foot lift. This additional space makes it easier to sew multilayer projects, so there is no more struggling to fit thick fabrics like denim and fleece under your presser foot.
DROP-IN BOBBIN
Bobbin changes are effortless with the quick-set drop-in bobbin. Drop your bobbin in the machine, pull your threads through the slot, and let your HZL-HT740 do the rest.
BOBBIN WINDER
This machine has an auto-declutch bobbin winder that makes sewing a breeze. You can keep multiple bobbins on hand, so you have the perfect thread color for every project!
START/STOP BUTTON
For added convenience, the HZL-HT710 is equipped with a start/stop button, allowing you to sew without using the foot pedal. This feature is handy for long sewing sessions or when you need precise control over stitching speed. Pay close attention to your start/stop button; it will change colors to indicate what is happening with your machine.

Elongated Stitches
You can change the overall length without changing the sewing density of the pattern. Some of the stitches on the HZL-HT740 can be elongated up to five times its normal size. You can change the overall length without changing the sewing density of the pattern. When the elongation key is selected, the LCD screen will display the elongation icon, and the machine will continue to see the elongation stitch until the button is pressed again.
Programmable Needle Up/Down
With the needle up/down position button, you decide whether the needle stops in the highest or in the lowest position (i.e. in the fabric) when you stop sewing.
Snap-on Presser Feet
Easily switch between presser feet using the included snap-on presser foot adapter. Press the lever to release the presser foot, then to install another one, line it up just underneath the foot holder and lower the presser bar until the foot clicks into place. You are ready to sew as soon as the foot clicks into place, so no more messing with a small presser foot screw when going from one foot to another.
Built-in Needle Threader
Finding the eye of a needle, especially in your machine, is no easy task; the automatic needle threader easily threads the needle. Allowing you to thread your machine in seconds. There is no need to squint or search for the eye of the needle with old-fashioned threaders; this machine does it for you and allows you to start sewing quickly.
DIRECT STITCH PATTERN SELECTION
