My Kenmore sewing machine was a Christmas present from my husband the year our daughter was born, Dec 13, 1969. I oil it every year on Mother’s Day - just like I learned at my Sear’s sewing classes. When that footer plate broke I thought I would have to buy a new machine because it was 55 years old. Never thought I’d find the part online. Thank you so much for thinking ahead and saving those old parts.

My original Kenmore stitch plate was a machined piece of stainless steel: thick and solid. I thought I needed a new one so I ordered this "compatible with" to replace it. The new one came and it is a stamped piece of stainless steel: thin and allowed movement of the piece once replaced and the parts put back together. My husband smoothed my original piece that had needle nicks in it so I won't be using this replacement piece.

part fits, but has more stress on ends- compared to original, the angles of bends on ends that slide under aren't quite as sharp as original part has, causing part to be maybe 1/2ml longer than original. It works, but am concerned it will break over time.
