Fit perfectly in my (Janome) New Home My Excel 23L. If you're having difficulty removing the old unit there's a chance that the needle threader pin is bent and kinked inside of the plastic housing. I had to remove the metal cap held in place by two tabs to get the old pin out. The cap is made of soft metal and the tabs can easily be moved with a screwdriver. These are very small delicate parts. Order at least two of them.
Apparently my original needle threader hook was missing. It took awhile to realize how this would be attached. But now that I have installed it, it is working perfectly. A visual would be helpful as to how to install. It's simple enough once you figure it out.

Bit "fiddley" but I got it installed. Some kind of diagramatic help would have been useful. The piece was originally missing from my wife's machine, I wanted to fix it for her but had no clue how. Done deal thanks!
Part did not function on both a New Home model 7000 & 8000. It bends very easily and will not push the thread through the eye of the needle.
When I received the pin I didn't think it would work,because it did not look the same as the original and when I went to install it I was unable to do so, but I discovered the reason I could not install it was because part of the old one that had broken off was preventing me. Once I dislodged this small piece everything went together just like it was supposed to. I was happy happy happy. Thanks so much
