Gear fit perfectly and so far seems like it will work just fine. We'll see how durable it is when it starts sewing denim.

Fit perfectly for my Singer 457!
The part fit the vertical shaft very well but was, overall, too tall and created too much friction when installed. Grinding off the lower, metal part to shorten the overall height allowed the gears to mesh loosely enough for smooth operation. I estimate I ultimately removed just over 1mm, using a whetstone/diamond plate

Seems to be a good fit for a Singer 347, while it doesn’t list this application. Fits the shaft better than a lousy version I first got from Amazon. Way better quality. Good value.

The gear wears out in a few years and tried to find a replacement for it is very hard. I found this company online and bought 2 parts. Great price, no problems.

This gear Worked great! Andy tube on youtube has a wonderful video showing how to replace it step by step on my singer 457. He recommended the white gear over the black one. It went so smoothly to replace it!
Same as the headline. There are probably a dozen ways to fix this failure all it needs is your attention, its not beyond your capabilities to make a small engineering change.
