The straight stitch plate and foot fit my Brother se1900 quite well and I was pleasantly surprised my machine recognized it once installed and prevented me from accidentally selecting stitches which were unsuitable for it and would have resulted in needle breakage. I would definitely recommend it!

Worked great on my Brother SE1900 machine. No problems stitching a straight seam. If you sew and don't have this plate, I recommend you get one for straight stitching.

The Presto II straight stitch plate does not come with the cleaning brush that is included on the bottom of the original stitch plate. There is no way to know that because it is not posted as being sold separately. In addition, unless you’ve removed the original stitch plate, you wouldn’t know there is a brush attached in the first place. In addition, it seems skimpy of Baby Lock to charge separately for that brush. Sewing Parts can help alleviate the inconvenience of future customers by listing the brush with the straight stitch plate and point out that it is sold separately.
This makes my sewing and backstitch more consistent. I was going to buy a straight stitch machine, but the single hole plate makes my machine just as good as a straight stitch machine. This one said it would fit my machine and it does.

I havent used it yet but suspect it will come in handy soon. Working on woven garments sometimes it will be pushed into the wider zigzag plate and this should eliminate that from happening.

Correct part for my machine. The smaller needle opening on the straight stitch plate does make a big difference in the quality of stitching the seam. It doesn't allow the fabric to get dragged down into the machine. I bought the plate to make 4" blocks but it has really helped with some foundation paper piecing. The seams are easier to control while sewing.
