Amanda's Story

Hello, I am Amanda Mateo, and I love all things Jelly-Roll Rugs! I have been around sewing my entire life but didn't find my love for it until later in life. In 2018, I left my career to be a full-time mom and caregiver to my husband, but along with the rest of the world, 2020 flipped our worlds upside down.

Due to COVID we spent 12 hour days sewing masks for the hospital my mom works at. It was through these long but fun days that sparked my love for sewing. Once the need for masks slowed down my cousin and I joined a local Jelly-Roll Rug sewing class at our local quilt shop.

I was instantly hooked and wanted to make a rug for every holiday and every room in my home. My love for Jelly-Roll Rugs slowly grew into my small business that it is today. I love sewing custom Jelly-Roll Rugs and teaching others how to sew their own through virtual self-paced Jelly-Roll Rug sewing classes at uniquelymateo.teachable.com.
