Aurifil 50wt Mako Cotton Thread (1,422yds) Details
Product Description
Aurifil's Mako Cotton thread in 50wt is the most versatile and popular cotton thread, perfect for quilting, English Paper Piecing (EPP), machine embroidery, applique, and much more. Mako Cotton Thread is a 2-ply, long-staple Egyptian Cotton that has been mercerized to strengthen the thread and give it a lustrous sheen. Aurifil Mako Cotton Thread is available in a wide variety of colors, and each spool contains 1,422 yards (1000m).
50wt thread is a favorite for quilters as it holds tension consistently and is strong enough for quilting at high speeds. It is even smooth enough for hand quilting and mending. The long-staple cotton and mercerization guarantee that the thread doesn't catch on the fabric and jam up on itself.
Heavy enough to secure your fabric together yet fine enough to be precise and delicate to melt into English Paper Piecing. Aurifil's wide variety of color choices makes color-matching projects a breeze.
The 2020 Color Builders were designed to spotlight Italy's most vivid and colorful destinations. A capsule of 12 mini-collections, each including three large spools of the 50wt thread based on the location's primary color palette.

Thank you 🙏.99k singer sewing machine model.
Love this thread ! Doesn’t curl up around your needle like other big roll thread does. Glad I tried this brand. Colors are great ! 👍🏻
I’ve been sewing sense I was 12 , Now 76 I’msewing something everyday . I buy thread as I use it so it’s fairly new and not dusty . laraine
It is the perfect shade for a Clemson tiger paw! I am making Free Standing Lace Christmas ornaments with Clemson Tiger paws on them and this shade of orange turned out to be perfect. What’s more, the thread stands up to the speed of embroidery!
Love sewing with aurafil 2600 dove gray great for piecing any project have used it for years.
Aurifil thread is perfect for my sewing machine. No lint. Perfect piecing thread.

I love this brand of thread. It is strong, holds a seam, and come in such a wide variety of colors.
I needed this color and use it in piecing some quilt projects and hand work. Perfect.
This thread is my favorite to use for piecing my quilts. The thread arrived earlier than expected and the package was in perfect condition.
This thread is the best! Haven't had any trouble with it! Just great !! Thank You so much! Jill I Gumm
I am replacing a nearly empty spool of the same color. The fact that I’ve nearly used up a spool of this should tell you how well I like this thread and color. This time I bought two spools of the same color.
Works great for topstitching
Fast delivery
Thread unspools in ringlets. Managing curly needle and bobbin threads is something I've never experienced, and annoys me. Will throw it away and stick with Gutermann thread.
Always use Aurifil 50wt when quilting. The color burgundy is perfect for the project I'm working on.
Seems to lint more than I’d like
K
Perfect for my quilting projects and more. Doesn’t tangle or break.
Best thread.
Exactly as described. True white and a lot on the spool.
Great thread, though a bit pricey.
I always use Aurifil thread on my quilting and long-arm machines. Great performance and stability, and I can mix colors top and bottom without worry.
Great thread
Love the thread!! I’m so tired of running out of thread or bobbins so immediately made 6 new white bobbins and am ready to for work!! Love the quality!!
My favorite thread and color
There’s no better thread!!!!
This is the only thread I will use for piecing quilt blocks. It is thin and strong. I don't know how they do this, but I'm very grateful that it exists.
Like this thread. Only one i use for quilting.
Perfectly packaged and delivered to my porch ( not tossed on lawn or sidewalk )! So pleased!!
This color is my go-to for everything. Works so well on light to dark color fabrics. No worries using this. Aurifil is low lint. I’m in love!
