Mako Cotton Thread is a 2-ply, long-staple Egyptian Cotton that has been mercerized to strengthen the thread and give it a lustrous sheen. Aurifil Mako Cotton Thread is available in a wide variety of colors, and each spool contains 1,422 yards (1000m).
50wt thread is a favorite for quilters as it holds tension consistently and is strong enough for quilting at high speeds. It is even smooth enough for hand quilting and mending. The long-staple cotton and mercerization guarantee that the thread doesn't catch on the fabric and jam up on itself.

It is the perfect shade for a Clemson tiger paw! I am making Free Standing Lace Christmas ornaments with Clemson Tiger paws on them and this shade of orange turned out to be perfect. What’s more, the thread stands up to the speed of embroidery!
