I've had my Brilliant for a couple of years. I love it, with the exception of one thing that Baby Lock could have done better.
WHAT I LOVE:
1.The Stitch Quality... always perfect...going from one function to the next you never lose stitch quality.
2. Ease of cleaning, I find this machine easy to clean and maintain, I clean between each project and find cleaning this machine quick and easy.
3. Work Horse, this machine is a work horse for sure,
I sew for 6-8 hours a day, never a hiccup.
5. Baby Lock free education and customer support. I have to give them kudos for this, they do it right. And again, stitch quality....I can't say enough about stitch quality on this machine .
WHAT I HATE: as in I hate it a lot and make up new curse words because....
Threading the uptake lever, it's hidden, the machine end cap is not hinged. It is a huge time waster. You either get lucky and the thread hits in just the right sweet spot for the lever to grab the thread, or you waste time, a lot of time trying, or like me you take the end cap off the machine to thread it so you do not waste time.
I hate wasting time. This one thing on this Brilliant
that will be the reason I donate it to the local learning center. I sew for a living, I do not have time to waste.
That said, if you'e a patient person with the thread uptake issue, you cannot go wrong with ease of use, and stitch quality.
Machine: The BabyLock Brilliant. My recently purchase, I REALLY LIKE this machine! It has all the bells & whistles I wanted. Speed control, auto cutter, good lighting, larger throat space and the best needle threader ever! I sew home dec, slip covers, and a little quilting. Been sewing for about 25yr or so, this machine is performing very well SO much better than my older machine. I would recommend this machine for sure. Purchased thru Sewing Parts on line they have been a dream to with.
Love everything about this sewing machine. I’ve been been sewing for over 30 years and owned all kinds of machines and so far I am really enjoying this one. it’s so smooth it goes over seamd really well. It has no problem with knits. The computer interface is easy and logical to understand. sewing Parts delivered the machine really fast and had a great ad on bundle with extra feet and needles. The threading is easy and logical as well and the drop in bobbin is great and works every time and did I mention the auto threader it’s perfection. Do not hesitate to buy this machine if you’re looking for a new one.
I have fallen in love with a sewing machine! The Baby lock Brilliant is even more amazing than I realized and I'm still getting to know her. I've even named her 'Freda the Fantastic'! Started a table runner and it sews like a dream!
So far, I love this machine. I am only slightly more experienced at sewing than a beginner. I sew very basic items like pet beds, pet bandanas, catnip toys for my local humane society. I don’t sew clothes or quilts so I haven’t explored even 20% of what this machine can do but I can’t wait to learn more. I was sewing on machines that are 15+ years old. This machine is much quieter, has a strong motor and fun features like needle threading and thread cutting. I so glad I bought it. Everything is so much easier than it was on my old machines.
I have been so happy with my new Baby Lock Brilliant. She does everything I was hoping for. I have alot of arthritis in my hands. The fact that she threads her own needle and cuts threads has been great. Just extra steps my hands dont need to do. My old machine is a quality machine also but few stitches available. Can not tell you how excited I am to try new stitches and how to use them on my sewing projects. So glad I took the step forward to buy my Brilliant from Sewing Parts Online. Arrived early. Did have a problem with the company who delivered the machine. Had the box standing on it's side then tried to pick it up with one hand, and the box tore at the handle and dropped. I'm afraid to run it.
The machine did not show signs of damage on the outside (scratches or dents) not sure if there is any damage to the components on the inside.
Beautiful machine. My dream machine! I named her Lucy. I have sewn 4 pairs of pajamas for my granddaughter already and I've had it 1 week! Thanks Sewing Parts online! She Sews Seams on YouTube sent me!!!
I love this machine, however the plug for the foot pedal got stuck in the machine and broke off, so I had to send it in for service and haven't been able to use it since Dec 20, so no late Christmas projects. It was still under warranty since it was brand new, so I will get a new foot pedal, as well as having the plug removed from the machine. I can not wait to get it back as I have projects that I specifically planned for this machine!
This is a beautiful “dream” machine. I’m still learning all the magic this baby can perform. From threading to thread cutter and everything in between. This machine is wonderful for beginners to experienced sewers . I’m so happy to have this beautiful machine.

I consider myself to be an intermediate beginner. My older machine (Brother XR1300), still works; but the Baby Lock Brilliant is a totally new dimension. It's making me sew much better than I ever have. It's quieter and so powerful. I have already made to "boxy bags." I sewed one on Ottertex Waterproof canvas, and -- with care -- the machine works so well. I'm looking forward to improving my skills. I find sewing a relaxing escape from daily reality. After getting the machine, I had to wait several days as I ordered all new thread to use. Winding the bobbin and loading it was absolutely the easiest I have ever done. Sewing, ha!! Quiet and smooth, can't ask for anything better! I love this machine but it is still new to me and I have a lot to learn.
I just got the Baby Lock Brilliant last week. And at first I thought it would take a lot of time before I would be up and running. But it is so intuitive! I am sure I will be taking advantage of the free trial of SewEd classes that come with it to learn about the more advanced features. But so far, I love it!
I also did a lot of searching on line for the best deal. I probably looked at 5 to 7 different dealers. And Sewing Parts Online beat everyone else's price, plus they included a bonus bundle that had extras that I know I am going to make good use of!

I tried to take the needle out unscrewed that thing completely, and the needle will not come out. I tried to pair of pliers, but I was afraid to try too hard because I didn’t wanna scare up the needle and not be able to use anything on the sewing machine. Please inform me how to change the needle!
I almost sent this machine back. It has some things on it that make it very difficult to get it ready to sew.
I always wanted a Baby Loc as I liked what I saw of the stitches etc.
however, the threading could be simpler, the bobbin winder could be simpler. I have sewn on many machines and this one is trying my patience.
I am sure I am part of the problem, but I think to encourage the younger ones to sew on such a wonderful machine,, it could be easier. I am still trying. I don't have a shop here in the area to go to, but it is not that, it is the everyday sewing. I can't just sit down and start sewing, it has to be prayed over, begged, threatened before it will ever do anything. And that red/orange'green light...is another problem. Sorry. I will conquer this, but I would like for it to have been much simpler in some areas. ...I am 88 years old and this is the most frustrating machine I have ever tried to sew with. I got this Baby Lock Brilliant machine for my wife for Mother's Day. It's an upgrade from her old sewing machine. She says she loves it, and she is learning about her machine. Since it has more "bells and whistles" than what she has on her old machine, she says this will help her excel in her sewing. I also got her the Sew Steady Extension Table for her and are still waiting for the arrival of that. Then she will be in Sewing Heaven.
