WHAT ARE NON STICK PRESSER FEET MADE OF?

This foot is made of a special resin that makes the sewing of sticky fabricseasy to sew; whereas if you were using a regular metal foot, the fabric would stick. This foot is also great for slippery fabrics that tend to want to get away from you.

WHAT DOES A NON STICK FOOT LOOK LIKE?

This particular non-stick foot has a wide opening. This will allow you to do a large variety of stitches, ranging from a straight stitch to any stitch that requires a zig-zag. You can use this foot as if it was your general-purpose zig-zag foot. Oftentimes, you can get a straight stitch foot or a zipper foot made with this same special resin.

WHAT NEEDLE SHOULD I USE?

When sewing these tricky fabrics, in addition to using the correct presser foot, you also want to make sure that you are using the correct sewing machine needle. For suede, I suggest using a Microtex (Sharp Needle). The Sharp needle will also work well for the vinyl. With faux leather, swap out the Sharp needle for a Leather needle.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS WHEN USING A NON STICK FOOT

Also, set your stitch length to a medium to long option, such as 3 to 4mm. This is important because, if the stitches are too close together, the fabric will become perforated and easily tear at the seam.

Another tip. Instead of pinning your fabric, use fabric clips - like Wonder Clips. These will hold your fabric pieces together without leaving any holes. These particular types of material will show holes and they won’t disappear.

Since you can use this foot as a standard presser foot and it can solve issues with these fickle fabrics, it is a great presser foot to have in your sewing collection.
