Welcome back to The Beginner's Guide to Sewing!
In episode 2, you'll learn all about the required tools/supplies for sewing. When we were planning this video, our goal was to make the supply list as inexpensive as possible for the novice sewist.
Our solution was to break the supply list into 3 categories, from "absolutely must have" to "important, but you can get by without." Keep in mind, these are just the essential tools. Things like fabric, notions, interfacing, and patterns are all project specific and will be picked up as you go along.
Must-Have Sewing Notions For Beginners (Priority 1):
Basic Sewing Machine - The Janome 2212 is a nice starter machine.
Needle Chart (Download or Purchase)
Sewing Scissors - We like Gingher and Fiskar
ThimbleIron and Pressing Cloth (scrap white cotton works nicely)
